I appreciate your generous warnings. All backups have been done (as always). I'm comfortable with the process and am aware of the possible, necessary manual fixes. I just didn't know if a direct update was fine to do. This site is not critical at the moment, so any hiccups will not be an issue, while fixes are completed.

I have up to php 8.4 available to me. I already have a WBCE 1.5.4 working on php 8.0. I just tried 7.0 as a temporary test,

Thanks again.

To be honest I just wanted to test something new and while I was looking at the different currently available code editors I saw that Ace is rather straight forward in its implementation.
CodeMirror 6 may be very well good, too, but I don't see much info.
At the other hand Ace has not only all the info and documentation but also the development seems very active -- and a lot of usage.

Most importantly, it seems stable. The way it behaves and works seems more reliable than CodeMirror. But that remains to be verified in praxis.

I have it running now and will upload in the next hour.
I stripped it to the bare minimum of approx 1.2 MB. Just two themes (day and night) for bright and dark mode.
We can add more features later, if needed.

losttrip wrote:

As I mentioned, there is no rush from me for any kind of action on this.

Yes, I just had this small window of time at my hands yesterday and splurged it right into it.

Christian

CKEditor - change default width of editor window

Thank you for the clarification. I must have been confused (time and age seem to be a factor) about these settings having an effect. I must have been remembering the ability to use the resize settings set to "both" and setting that config.resize_maxWidth:

config.resize_enabled   = true;
    config.resize_dir = 'both';
    config.resize_minWidth  = 250;
    config.resize_maxWidth  = 750;

With this set, when you click on the bottom corner to resize, the editor instantly snaps down to the maxWidth value.

Anyway, it's not important to me to have the actual editor window width set. Like you suggested, I set a max-width on the body element in my editor.css file.

Thank you for your time and concrete knowledge.

#9 was not my solution.

I thought the only issue that it did not work was that your code was not moved to the bottom of the body (because at the first try to implement that gallery I had exactly the same problem which I solved by moving the <script> part to the bottom). So I tried to adapt my findings to the code you posted.

In conclusio I think the script is too difficult to get it working.
