Re: Import pages from WB 2.11 to WBCE

Hello and welcome,
it's not as easy as migrating from older WB versions to WBCE, but with a little preparation it should be possible too.
Please be patient, as far as I know that other community members migrated already successfully, unfortunately I for myself do not know which steps are necessary in particular, so I can't help you at once.
It also depends on the modules you currently use (and which version of them). The newer WB modules are not compatible with WBCE.

Re: Import pages from WB 2.11 to WBCE

I have backups from WB 2.8 era, would it be easier to import from that?

At least it might be worth trying, you can refer to this manual in that case:

I will try to find a pre 2017 backup and see if it works.
Thank you Florian, for the fast response!!!

Re: Import pages from WB 2.11 to WBCE

A direct migration from WB 2.11 would look like this - we have not so much experience with that case, but at least that way worked for WB 2.10.:
I strongly recommend not to try this on a live site, you'd better test it on a working copy first. No warranty that this will work in any case!

  1. Make a backup of the files on your server and the database, store the files of the frontend template in use seperately - you need them lateron

  2. Login to the 2.11 site and uninstall all modules which can be removed without data loss, e.g. admin tools, not used frontend modules

  3. Access the site via FTP and delete everything except the file config.php and the folders media, pages and modules (and their contents)

  4. Upload the WBCE files into the root (so that you have again diectories like /admin, /framework  and so on)

  5. Copy the frontend theme you had in use into the /templates directory

  6. Call yourdomain.com/install/update.php in the browser and run the WBCE update script

  7. Login to your website and update the modules for which updates are available in the WBCE Add-On Repo

  8. Finally, check all pages in the backend and frontend carefully.

As I stated before, newer WB modules won't work with WBCE, at least not out of the box.

Re: Import pages from WB 2.11 to WBCE

Thank you for your reply.
I have found a 2.8  backup, so I will try that first and let you know what the results are probably tomorrow.
I fully understand that a lot of improvements have done with wbce and that older module may not be compatible.
Best regards

Re: Import pages from WB 2.11 to WBCE

older module may not be compatible

To be honest, it's the other way round, modules which are updated by the WB crew for use with WB 2.10/2.11 don't work with WBCE. Older modules should still work. (But then there might be issues with newer PHP versions.)

Re: Import pages from WB 2.11 to WBCE

OK, I now have a working version of WBCE 1.31 installed and I have a working version of WB 2.10
I have tried to import my pages from the WB 2.10 into my WBCE 1.31

The result is that the page titles have been imported but the content does not show up.

I have tried to update the sql database by importing the pages from wb 2.10 database.
They are now in the database now but they still do not show up.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you

Re: Import pages from WB 2.11 to WBCE

Well, one more cup of coffee and voilà!

I had not imported the wysiwyg and sections tables in my sql database, now it works.

One last bug however the Andreas00b template is not working anymore...

Thanks for the help.

Re: Import pages from WB 2.11 to WBCE

Hi Luc,

It's nice to hear that the installation is running smoothly again.

To find the cause of the non-functioning theme, please activate the error message in the settings.

If you have changed some theme calls for 2.11, they must also be changed to work in WBCE.

If you want, you can send me the wbce and ftp credentials via pm and i will check why the theme not longer works.

Re: Import pages from WB 2.11 to WBCE

Hi Colinax,

This is from an unmodified Andreas00b template which was working under wb 2.11

Maybe I am missing a module to properly display this template.

http://cartotek.ca/pages/english/wall-m … hp?lang=FR

Here is the error :

Fatal error: Call to a member function numRows() on null in
/var/www/vhosts/cartotheque.ca/cartotek.ca/templates/andreas00b/index.php on line 45

From original index.php

41    global $database;
42    $query = "SELECT post_id,title,content_short,group_id,link FROM ".TABLE_PREFIX."mod_news_posts ORDER BY position DESC LIMIT 0, 5;";
43    $res = $database->query($query);
44    $newsout = '';
45    if($res->numRows() > 0) {
46    while($data = $res->fetchRow()) {
        $title = $data['title'];
        $id = $data['post_id'];
        $link = $data['link'];
        $short = $data['content_short'];
        $newsout .= '<p><a href="'.WB_URL.PAGES_DIRECTORY.$link.PAGE_EXTENSION.'" class="latestnews">'.$title.'</a></p>';
    }

Thank you
Luc

Re: Import pages from WB 2.11 to WBCE

Looks for me as if the template expects that the news module is installed and contains news items. Do you use that module?
Otherwise, I think you can just remove the lines.

Re: Import pages from WB 2.11 to WBCE

Hi Florian,
You are correct, this is a new installation and News was not installed yet.
Everything is fine now.
Great support from the team.
Thank you and best regards

If you use News and want to show some news item in your template, you should propably check out the wbce_anynews snippet.
