WBCE 1.1 STABLE released

Websitebaker CE made it to the next step (official Version 1.1.3), the first release that not just a bugfix to WB classic. The original idea was to add even more new features to this release, but we recently discovered some security issues and decided to release early instead of waiting for more features to come. Nevertheless WBCE 1.1 has some new features too.

Changes and features

Security
Several security patches - not entirely lethal stuff but some could have become ugly.

Filename != menutitle
The filename now may be different form the menu title. There simply is an extra field in the page settings.

Maintainance mode
WBCE now is equiped with a maintainance mode. To switch it on/off,  have a look into the admin tools section of the backend, there is the new maintainance mode tool.
You can provide a custom maintainance mode page for your template, see the example at /templates/simple_responsive/systemplates/maintainance.tpl.php.
In future releases there may be other systemtemplates in the systemplates folder that can be overridden.

Suppress default outputfilter
Default outputfilter may be suppressed by defining a constant:
define ("WB_SUPPRESS_OLD_OPF", true);
In the config.php for example. Later this will become a switch in the admintool.

Default BE/FE templates
Fixed default templates for intranet use.

Opf Dashboard
Added Hooks for OPF Dashboard to the Core.

Sessions
Sessions have a strict livetime checking now, and the livetime can be set  in the "Secure Form Switcher" admin tool.
Later this will get its own setting, but for now this gives at least the option to set session Livetime from the backend.

Autoloader
We added an Autoloader for easy loading of system classes. In addition the autoloader has the option to simply register our own classes in "include.php" of a Module , that way you create a Library class that is only loaded when needed. (more features and options are planned)

Secureform
We removed the "single tab" mode as it did not provide any advantages, but still produced confusion. Secure form class got some reviews and hopefully those nasty Security warnings now only will warn you if there is a reason to warn.

Settings
We now got a simple class to manage global settings in the core and for modules. See Details

Lots of small bugfixes
Which obviously nobody was keen on fixing past the last 6 years...

MySQL strict mode
Problems with MySQL strict mode were patched with a hotfix. We are not entirely happy whith this solution and willl edit the SQL statements in the next release. But editing the statements in the core does not help whith older modules, so this fix will stay in even if the core statements are edited.

PHP 7
WBCE is ready for PHP 7.

Started documenting new core features whith Doxygen, results are under http://docs.wbce.org.

Miniform
New version of miniform added to core.

Installing and Updating

In the download package there are an install script for brand new installations as well as an update script for updating existing installations.

• To install, unzip the installation package, establish a FTP connection to your webserver and copy all files from the folder "wbce" to the server. Rename config.php.new to config.php and point your browser to your address. Have your mySQL credentials ready and follow the instructions in the installer.

• Update from WBCE 1.x: Make a backup of all your files and the database.  Unzip the installation package and copy all files except the folder /install an config.php.new from the folder "wbce" to the server. Be sure to allow overwriting existing files.  Point your browser to yourdomain.tld/upgrade-script.php and follow the instructions.

• Migration from WB classic 2.8.3, WB classic 2.8.3 SP1-SP4: Same procedere as updating from earlier WBCE versions.

• Migration from WB classic 2.8.3 SP5: To be honest, we have no experience with this until now.

Die Version WBCE 1.1 stable ist ab sofort verfügbar.

Diese Version ist nicht mehr nur ein "Bugfix" für WB classic, sondern dient im wesentlichen der Erhöhung der Sicherheit von WBCE, hat aber auch einige neue Features an Bord. Wir empfehlen ein Update auf WBCE 1.1 durchzuführen.

Änderungen und Neuigkeiten

Sicherheit
Es wurden zahlreiche potenzielle Sicherheitsprobleme beseitigt. Wir weisen darauf hin, dass es sich dabei nicht um kritsche Lücken handelte, dieses Update aber schon ernst zu nehmen ist und deshalb eingespielt werden sollte.

Dateiname != Menütitel
Ein lang gehegter Wunsch: Der Dateiname (Teil der URL) kann jetzt vom Menütitel unabhängig festgelegt werden.

Wartungsmodus
Über ein neu eigeführtes Admintool kann WBCE  in den Wartungsmodus versetzt werden, so dass im Frontend durchgängig nur eine - anpassbare - "Baustellenseite" angezeigt wird. Der angemeldete Administrator sieht weiterhin die "richtige" Frontendansicht und kann so bequem Änderungen und Updates vornehmen, ohne Besucher mit daraus resultierenden fehlerhaften Seiten zu verwirren.
Es ist möglich, zu jedem Frontend-Template die passende Baustellenseite zu erstellen - siehe das Beispiel in /templates/simple_responsive/systemplates/maintainance.tpl.php.
Wir planen, in späteren Releases weitere "Systemtemplates" bereit zu stellen, die dann durch die jeweiligen individuellen Templates ggf. überschrieben werden können.

Standard-Outputfilter deaktivieren
Es wurde eine Konstante eingeführt, mit dem der Standard-Outputfilter deaktiviert werden kann. Bei Bedarf in der config.php die folgende Zeile ergänzen:
define ("WB_SUPPRESS_OLD_OPF", true);
Wir planen, das dies später über das entsprechende Admintool eingestellt werden kann.

Überarbeitete Standard-Templates für Backend und Frontend
Die Standard-Backend- und Frontendthemes laden nun keine Scripte und Schrifte mehr aus externen Quellen nach, da dies in Intranets zu Problemen führte. Darüber hinaus wurden die Backendthemes gestalterisch überarbeitet und das neue WBCE-Logo eingefügt.

Ooutputfilter Dashboard
Für ein später einzuführendes OPF-Dashboard wurden die Voraussetzungen im Core geschaffen.

Sessions
Die Länge der Session (Sitzungszeit) kann jetzt im "Secure Form Switcher" festgelegt werden und wird strikter kontrolliert.
Für ein späteres Release ist geplant, dafür ein eigenes Admintool einzurichten und die Gefahr von unvorhergesehenen Abgemeldetwerden und damit einher gehenden Textverlusten zu vermindern.

Autoloader
Es wurde ein neuer Autoloader eingeführt, über den sehr einfach Klassen bei Bedarf nachgeladen werden können.

Secureform
Der "Single Tab"-Modus wurde abgeschafft, weil er keine Vorteile bot und sowieso nie richtig funktionierte. Die Secureform-Implementierung wurde überarbeitet, so dass die "Sicherheitsverletzung!!!-Meldungen (hoffentlich) wirklich nur noch dann erscheinen, wenn es einen echten Anlass dafür gibt.

Einstellungen
Über eine neue Klasse können Optionen für Core und Module verwaltet werden.

...die in den letzten 6 Jahren wohl niemand zu beheben Lust hatte.

MySQL strict-Modus
Ein Hotfix wurde implementiert, um Probleme mit dem MySQL strict-Modus zu umgehen. Dies ist noch nicht als endgültige Lösung anzuehen, allerdings sind außer Anpassungen am Core vor allem Anpassungen an Modulen erforderlich, um diese mit dem MySQL-strict-Modus sauber funktionieren zu lassen, daher wird der Hotfix auch nach der noch Ausstehenden Bereinigung des WBCE-Cores von problematischen Anweisungen erhalten bleiben, um das Funktionieren von älteren Modulen weiterhin zu gewährleisten.

PHP 7
WBCE wurde erfolgreich mit PHP 7 getestet und geringfügig dafür aktualisiert.

Miniform
Neue Version wurde in den Core übernommen.

Installation und Updates

Das Downloadpackage enthält den Installer für neue Installationen sowie ein Upgrade-Script zur Aktualisierung bestehender WBCE/WB-Websites.

• Zur Neuinstallation das Downloadpackage lokal entpacken und den Inhalt des Verzeichnisses "wbce" per FTP auf den Server kopieren. config.php.new in config.php umbenennen. Im Browser die zukünftige Adresse der Website aufrufen und den Anweisungen des Installationsscripts folgen. Es werden die MySQL-Zugangsdaten benötigt.

• Update von WBCE 1.x: Backup aller Dateien auf dem Server sowie der Datenbank anlegen. Installer lokal entpacken und alle Dateien im Verzeichnis "wbce" außer /install und config.php.new per FTP ins Verzeichnis der zu aktualisierenden Instanz auf dem Webserver übertragen, dabei sicherstellen, dass die auf dem Server vorhandenen Dateien überschrieben werden. Im Browser die Adresse der upzudatenden Website plus "upgrade-script.php" aufrufen, also z.B. yourdomain.tld/upgrade-script.php. Den Anweisungen des Upgradescripts folgen.

• Migration von WB classic 2.8.3, WB classic 2.8.3 SP1-SP4: Das Vorgehen entspricht dem oben beschriebenen Updaten von WBCE-Instanzen.

• Migration from WB classic 2.8.3 SP5: Um ehrlich zu sein: Wir haben das noch nicht getestet.
