Some hints about updating from WebsiteBaker to WBCE

Today, I continued migrating my WebsiteBaker classic sites to WBCE  1.1 (I'm in charge of approx. 100 sites, so it's quite a long procedure...).
I'm pleased to say that migrating from WB 2.8.3 SP4 and even early versions of SP5 usually goes well. I have sites at several hosting companies (1&1, Goneo, Strato, Alfahosting, All-Inkl) and there were no problems.

There are currently two remarks:
1) after migrating from WB to WBCE, you _must_ update the news module (see attachment), because otherwise there are senseless brackets around the headlines and even in the "read more" links (so that these one don't work any more).
2) If you use smooth gallery (a very old module), you _must_ uninstall the colorbox module (smooth gallery uses Mootools which gets in conflict with jquery); there are probably other very old modules which do not work properly with WBCE any more.

Nevertheless it's always good to have a backup. This can be easily done with the backup module for smaller sites; for larger instances (or if other applications with lots of files, like forum software or ?&%5%! piwik, are in the same directory as the WB classic site), it runs into a timeout unfortunately, so that there seems to be no other way than FTP'ing the files from the server.
