404 / empty page

When i go to a page, that don't exist , I get a empty page with the new 1.4
I have update 4 sites , and they all have this.

so it stays at  www.example.com/nopage

What can be wrong ?
I tried another template but that didn't  help.

Check your .htaccess. If you're using shortURL, you have to enter the target 404 page in the short.php.
Check also, if you're using modules like 404 plus or 404, if something has to be updated there.

I think you attached the wrong screenshot (at least I do not see any context to the issue).

You're right again,  I use short URL and must change the error page in short.php. 
Yess, it works now.   Thank you Florian.
