I have been trying to set up a forum in my website using phpBB. Installation is proving difficult.
I would just like to ask - is this forum set up using a WBCE module? if so, which one?

The WBCE forum is running independently. There's no WBCE module for phpBB. I remember there was a module for myBB, but I think it's outdated.

I have been trying to set up my forum on a sub-domain of my website, separately to the main site, so it's not actually part of the main site. My problem is with the phpBB software which is proving difficult to install for some reason. I was wondering what software the WBCE forum is using? Is it a freely available open source forum software?

Ah, sorry. This is FluxBB.

Seems FluxBB is not maintained anymore. I remember Florian said there are some issues with it, but I forgot about the details... You may try myBB which seems to be still alive.
I cannot tell anything about it, only know the name.

OK thanks. I'll have a look at it.

Maybe your provider has a "one-click-install" for some forum software? This should work with no hassle.

Out of the box, FluxBB has/had only basic functions, no spam protection, no PM system, and so on. So if one wants to use it, installing plugins would be mandantory. Unfortunately, the official FluxBB server has gone for months now, I'm afraid it's no longer officially maintained. There is a Github repo of a former FluxBB community member (https://github.com/MioVisman/FluxBB_by_Visman), which looks as if at least some additional features are included, but I don't know if one wants to install a forum which is maintained by only one person.
I tried myBB some years ago. As far as I know, the installation was quite easy.
