WYSIWYG image resizing on upload

When I am working in WYSIWYG editor and I add an image, Browse Server, and then Browse, Upload from my hard drive, the image is full size.

The resolution does not honour the max width and height set in the media settings.

Is there a way to set a max size for the image upload in this WYSIWYG workflow?

Seems difficult. A general approach is described here, but idk if even this would still work (the answer is from 2012). And to get this working, we would need to fetch each size setting for each folder and store it in the session first, I have no idea wether/how this could be done.
So actually the answer is "no" I'm afraid.
